- Property taxes - Burnsville City - 50 cents per $100 appraised value
- Fire Tax - 4 to 65 cents per $100 appraised value depending which fire district provides service to property.
- Sales Tax - 7 cents per $1
Transportation
The Yancey County Transit Authority, Mitchell County Transit Authority, and Avery County Transportation Authority all provide van transportation from your home to anywhere you may need to go, including nearby cities. Many of the vans are equipped to provide service for handicapped people and include wheel chair support.
Voter Registration
When a new Drivers License is issued, the examiner can register the applicant for voting. Registration can also be handled at the Yancey County Courthouse Room #9. phone: 828-682-3950.
